Earth Day Storytime and Conservation Craft! In-Person
In celebration of Earth Day, join local author and John G. Borden Middle School social studies teacher, Adam (A.J.) Schenkman, as he reads from his debut children’s book Franklin’s Trees. Storytime will be followed by a book sale and signing by the author and a conservation craft with Miss Michelle. This program will be in the Community Room at Town Hall. For children ages 12 & under; please register each child separately.
This book tells the story of our 32nd President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), and his vast love of nature and trees. FDR created the Civilian Conservation Corps, known as “Roosevelt’s Tree Army,” to protect trees; many still thrive today at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Historic Site in Hyde Park, NY. The beautiful illustrations by Lauren Reese bring the story to life and help children identify different types of local trees.
